Drivel: Is it possible to cobble together the pieces of Open Source software to build a client support system that rivals or beats those of the BigCo's? You bet. First add a ticketing and issue tracking system like
Mantis. Next, add a project tracking and management system like
phpCollab. Tie it all together with
OpenLDAP and
MySQL. Wrap with a content management system like
Radio and a slick user interface design. You know have a website, project, and customer management system that cost you $40 for the Radio license, your time, and hosting costs. All together, you have spent less than $500 plus your time to build a complete client management portal that is most likely better than anything that the BigCo's could produce by spending millions. This is true power. I will let you know the recipe works out.
