I discovered Blogstreet's RSS-to-IMAP web service this evening. This is the most advanced RSS aggregator I've found. NewIsFree turned the web into an RSS playground. Blogstreet is bringing RSS to commonly used clients. The next step in this evolution is adding intelligence to RSS aggregation. Phil Wolff lays out some of the basic features that I would use to classify intelligent RSS aggregation. Filtering, scanning, and other techniques only provide a starting point for intelligent aggregation. BBF (Better Bayesian Filtering) adapted for RSS feeds would provide a level of unparalleled intelligence and optimization. The challenge will be figuring out how to avoid over optimization.

Today was decision day for me. I have accepted a job offer with Darwin Partners, a small consluting firm based in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Over the past year I have learned to make it on my own, but I have also learned why people work for companies. I want to focus on starting my family and raising our first child rather than raising a business. There will be time to start many companies during my lifetime.
