This is the first advertisement I have seen in an RSS feed so far. It was in the InfoWorld RSS feed. Spam is about to take on a whole new meaning. I'm a little shocked, dismayed, and confused. I'm not sure what to do. Should I unsubscribe from the feed? Should I wait and see what happens next? Should I combat it and write an RSS spam blocker?

StorageNetworks kaput. StorageNetworks Inc., the once-high-flying start-up that supplied storage to enterprise businesses as a storage service provider (SSP), is liquidating its operations, according to a story from Reuters.
 
Enterprise data centers are interesting animals. Everyone body needs and wants them, but no one wants to pay for them. In an ideal world, people should pay for what they use and commit to. The gap between reality and this ideal is politics. Organizations with a proper emphasis on cost management can make this work, while other organizations will find it very difficult if proper account and reporting are not made available. I will outline a couple of different models in a future post.
