The U.S. needs mobile content services like this. The content you can get on your mobile phone is the U.S. pales in comparison with the rest of the world. When are wireless providers in the U.S. going to catch a clue? Make content services easy to use and people will use it.

The corporate office of my new employer is on the ball when it comes to technology. You would think a 100 plus year old publishing company would smell like old books. Not so. I installed a Cisco SoftPhone, part of Cisco's AVVID product line, and tested it today. I am happy to report that it works very well over a T1, Cable modem, and even 802.11b. The sound quality is just as good as a regular digital or analog phone. What is even better is that my voicemails are sent to me attached to emails, making them portable objects and freeing them of the confines of a voice only system. My laptop is now the hub for all of my communications: email, instant messaging, and voice. I will only have to use my cell phone when I can't get on a decent network connection.

Sun has released a whole set of RSS utlities, tutorials, and other documentation for Java here. There are very few news readers done in Java, most of which you can find links to here.

I am starting to pick lots of stuff up in RSS feeds about semantic blogging. Phil has had a number of post in the past week following a semantic blogging demo at HP. Here's a presentation from the project summarizing the intent. Here's the actual blog for the project. It is very cool to see a company like HP investing resources in blogging and RSS. Paolo is working on a semantic news aggregator. This is just the beginning. Once people start grokking how this all works, it's going to explode. Semantic blogging is a way to take back the control of your online life.

This wouldn't be the first stupid thing Clark has done. If he does this, I hope his record as NATO Supreme Allied Commander is aired in all its glory.
