Phil has an interesting post here that I take exception to. I am a blogger, but I am not a journalist nor do I aspire to be one. This post is a perfect example. I am not reporting anything, but using it as a vehicle for sharing my ideas, opinions, and insights. My blog is also a place were I carry on detailed conversations, record research, take notes, and develop ideas. I do not want anything I write to even be considered op'ed as it lacks editorial discipline and structure. When blogging started -- almost seven years ago now -- it was about writing on the web, not journalism. It is still about writing on the web. There are many forms of writing. Journalism is only one form. Let's not loose sight of this. Hardcore bloggers have aligned themselves with journalists since they are easy to start a fight with and are quite vocal -- birds of a feather, for the most part. If I were to align myself with a mirror world equivalent it would be a novelist or essayist, not a journalist.
