Supporting RSS across all of Microsoft's web sites would be a communications revolution for the company. Microsoft's best friend and worst enemy is the velocity of information. Information travels very fast in the underground (e.g. hacker circles) because the communication channels are loosely coupled. This puts Microsoft at a disadvantage when responding to security and other issues. By supporting RSS they would have a direct, outward bound connection to individuals on an issue by issue basis that can't be mimicked with email. In many cases, taking these issues out of the flow of email would raise their priority level to many of the most important recipients.
This doesn't apply only to Microsoft. It applies to all technology vendors. I can think of a number of RSS categories that would be appropriate: product announcements, security alerts, knowledge base topics, 10 most recent support issues, etc. I would love to see Cisco, EMC, HP, Sun, Oracle, and IBM produce RSS feeds for these types of categories.
