Back in October I post an idea for weblog virtualization and a series of posts highlighting DOS attacks on blogs or the Slashdot effect on blogs. Phil Windley made a post this evening on P2P Swarming, which a variant on my original idea and the ideal for personal web sites and weblogs. I have not yet read the research from Dan Zappala that Phil references. At first glance, it looks a lot like BitTorrant with a twist.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security will announce details of its plans for a cyber alert system Wednesday morning. [CNET News.com - Front Door]

You've got to be kidding me. If they are using my tax dollars to fund this, it had better be head and shoulders above anything I can buy in the marketplace. The U.S. government is kidding themselves to think that they can provider a better, more informative service than international research centers and businesses.

I find it hard to trust a guy wearing a tie on the other side of the counter at a fast food restaurant.

I've been having a lot of trouble lately upstreaming via FTP with Radio. I move from network to network quite frequently. Over the course of any given day I will be on at least three networks when I am traveling; the hotel, the office, and a wireless network. The fourth network would be at the airport. Radio just isn't smart enough to deal with the varying network conditions I face daily. For instance, the FTP upstreaming process will hang and nothing else will get upstreamed because Radio appears to be waiting for something. I have to restart Radio to get the upstreaming process to start again. I've had times when I have to restart Radio close to a dozen times to get everything upstreamed. In that dozen or so restarts, Radio crashes four to five times out that dozen. It is getting to the point where I think I need to switch to a different blogging tool.
