I discovered SnipSnap when searching for alternative weblogging tools last week. It is the closest thing to Radio I have found. Here's a look at its
architecture. The funny thing is the name of the rendering engine behind SnipSnap: Radeox. I won't be using it to power NI3, but it is quite interesting. I have been looking for a Java application environment like this for quite a while. There is a lot of potential here. It uses the local file system or a relational database (MySQL or PostreSQL) as its data store. It makes an assumption that you are running it on a server. In order to run it on a server you must have desktop or shell access with enough privileges to execute java applications. The admin interface is smooth with a basic set of features. The user interface is still quite crude. The source is available for download.
