In thinking about my new machine, it would be great to have a software KVM. If I have laptops they each have their own display so all I need is a software KM (keyboard and mouse), which I found here. This is pretty cool, if it works. I've read reports here, here, and here.

I haven't had a good desktop machine in years. I've been using a couple of PowerSpec machines to what I need, but gaming has been impossible. I'd really like a machine I can game on as well as bring up multiple virtual machines at the same time with different OSs for development and testing. Multiple displays, network interfaces, CPU's, and RAID are a must. This should be a fun project. It is going to take some time as it will be a back burner project.

Alway-On Network usually isn't the best place to find new and exciting toys, but this one was interesting. eTelemetry claims they can tie together an IP with a name, location, phone, and email without installing agents. This is a decently difficult task. Most organizations that need to link this information typically assign static IP addresses and enter this information into a directory for tracking. However, the approach of issuing static IP addresses doesn't allow you to look for new things on the network that should or should not be there.
