We found out over Christmas that my brother is engaged to his girlfriend come financee Jessica. He proposed in the church that they are going to get married in on Lopez Island in the San Juan Island chain in the Pudget Sound. Shellie and I are very happy for them. They are great together.
My one and only brother, Andrew, finally has a blog up. He had a couple of great posts up there yesterday, but they are gone now. He decided to us Blojsom since he is a Java developer.
A lot of things have happened in the last couple of months. The job I took in San Diego was with SAIC, Science Applications International Corporation, the largest R&D defense contractor in the country, just didnât work out. Through SAIC I was working for the US Navy's Space Warfare Systems Center doing some very cool stuff. This job didn't work out for a number of very complicated reasons. When things started to turn soar, I contacted my colleagues at Wolters Kluwer, my previous employer. The timing was good and they offered me a position as the Director of Transformation and Architecture for North American technology operations. So, starting January 3 I will be working for Wolters Kluwer once again. This is a tremendous opportunity. I am looking forward to the challenge and working with a lot of people I respect. We will be moving to Chicago in the middle of the year. Between now and then I will be commuting from San Diego to Chicago just about every week. I keep telling my wife we'll have a free vacation at the end of next year with all of the miles we'll be racking up. While moving cross-country twice in the span of one year isn't ideal, the experience has led us to where we were supposed to be in life. We just took the path of most resistance, as usual.
I've moved Radio from a Windows machine to my PowerBook. Let's see how this first post works. Oops, forgot to create the FTP password. Maybe this will work now.
