Drivel: I am sitting in an EMC Control Center Open Edition training class right now. It is moving slowly, but it is very interesting. We are getting closer to the bare metal. The amount of data at this level about the physical devices that allows them to be manipulated by software is absolutely amazing.
Drivel: No time to load images or do much of anything else. The project at AT&T Wireless is going great. It is a ton of fun and great experience. I am getting great exposure to the latest storage technologies from EMC, Network Appliance, and 3Par. 3Par is the new kid on the block and has a great architecture. What I am learning is that along with storage prices dropping drastically, the management software feature sets are becoming standardized. Additionally, storage virtualization and storage-on-demand being commonplace in the enterprise is still a big pipe dream.
