As ultra small storage device like memory stick, compact flash cards, SD cards, etc. increase in capacity they will become an increasingly common way to move data around, presenting unique security issues. These types of devices will become a part of an enterprises storage environment.

Sony adds fingerprint reader to USB storage device. Fingerprint reader can also be used to allow access to connected computer terminal [InfoWorld: Storage]

Sony is finally finding a use for the fingerprint reader. When I worked for Accenture Sony was one of my clients. We worked with them to market their fingerprinting technology -- P.U.P.P.Y. -- to entertainment companies as a way to provide added privacy, security, and flexibility to information and services. There just wasn't a market for it at the time. I find it interesting that they are bundling it with other technologies to get it on the market.
